Teaching assistant interns wanted for NYC FIRST! FIRST runs immersive, hands-on STEM education and robotics programs to inspire and empower students across the diverse communities of New York City. As a STEM Teaching Intern you will help our instructors lead classes for NYC public high school students in areas of robotics, design, and engineering. You will also support a range of learners in our lab during informal lab hours. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in teaching and robotics while working with an organization introducing STEM to thousands of public school students in New York. Have fun with our students working on hands on projects while you learn to master the equipment in our state of the art fabrication lab.
Requirements:
Enthusiastic about teaching children and adolescents
Thrive in a fast-paced, busy environment
Can quickly learning necessary robotics, fabrication, and programming skills
FIRST alumni strongly encouraged to apply
Preference to candidates with strong computer programming and/or engineering backgrounds
Must be a junior or senior currently enrolled in a STEM major at Adelphi
Must have valid U.S. work authorization
Details:
Six week internship starting immediately
Earn $20/hour while teaching
Work in our state of STEM Center at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island
Work 3 hours a week in a class environment and 3 hours a week supporting lab work
Must be available to work during one of these time slots each week of the internship:
Tuesday, 10-2pm
Wednesday, 1:30-4:30pm
Thursday, 1:30-4:30pm
Lab hours are flexible, 7 days a week
